尿路結石是泌尿科常見的疾病，而腎臟結石大於2.5公分或鹿角狀結石，手術時間長達3至4小時，不過台南市立醫院腎臟科學得新的手術技術，手術時間縮短至1到1.5小時，且病患住院時間也從5天縮短到2、3天。

醫師表示，2.5公分以上巨大的鹿角狀結石一般傳統治療方法是採「經皮穿腎造瘻」方式，搭配「腎臟鏡碎石取石術」，在病患後腰腎臟位置建立一條通道直接通往腎臟。

而新技術利用汽化止血電極方法造瘻，可更安全的將腎臟內的血管完全止住，在碎石取石的手術過程中不太會出血，也能將碎石一網打盡，手術時間亦縮短為1到1.5小時，術後在通道中塞入長條狀止血棉，完全不需要放置術後的引流管。
